La Baltimore Science Fiction Society (BSFS) ha anunciado que  The Wings Upon Her Back de Samantha Mills ha ganado la 43ª edición del premio Compton Crook, como mejor novela del año pasado.

Llevábamos ya un tiempo sin saber nada de Josiah Bancroft, pero afortunadamente Orbit va a poner remedio a esta situación con la publicación de The Hexologists: A Tangle of Time, la segunda entrega de la saga del matrimonio formado por Iz y Warren Wilby. En septiembre nos podremos hacer con la continuación de The Hexologists.

As the nation’s foremost investigators of the paranormal, Isolde and Warren Wilby are accustomed to bumping up against things that go bump in the night. They have made quite a name for themselves as the Hexologists: detectives of the uncanny, the monstrous, the strange. After a decade of wedded bliss and dozens of fantastical adventures, there is little in the world that can still surprise them.
 
But when a famous artist dies under suspicious circumstances, Isolde finds herself investigating a murder that may not have happened, and a crime scene that seems to shift beneath her feet. Not one to be easily thwarted, Isolde is compelled to take greater and greater risks in pursuit of her elusive answers. Meanwhile, the laws that govern magic appear to be breaking, and those cracks are spreading to the everyday world.
 
The mystery will carry the devoted duo to seedy underworlds, enchanted gardens, and subterranean military zoos. Old friends will come to the Wilbies’ aid as they infiltrate secret societies, battle vicious imps, and flee from a pack of venomous wolves. Equipped with Isolde’s hexes, Warren’s muscle, and an enchanted bag full of magical relics, the Hexologists will have to risk life and limb to unravel the riddle at the heart of A Tangle of Time.

Cubierta y sinopsis de The Immeasurable Heaven

Solaris publicará el 15 de julio The Immeasurable Heaven de Caspar Geon, una ambiciosa space opera con esta intrigante sinopsis:

There was a king, once a sorcerer. Now an outcast trapped for more years than he can say, trudging the wastelands of a thousand apocalyptic worlds, scrounging from wreckage to build a means of escape. Perhaps even a way back to where he came from, many hundreds of millions of years ago.

Thistrel’s Depth is a galaxy long settled, a place where artificial minds known as the Throlken have claimed the cores of stars for themselves. Their appointed stewards, the Sovereigns, command hundreds of billions of worlds, in a time of apparent peace and plenty.

The Sovereigns possess the means to visit parallel realities, known as Phaslairs: clones of the universe, with more birthed every second. They have learned to burst the skin of one Phaslair and drop into the next, into a reality quite changed, appearing inside the body of someone, or something else.

And, running through each reality like a crack, is the fabled Well: a fissure in the Phaslairs into which horrors were flung. Never to return.

Until now.

The secret is out. There exists a unique and priceless map of the realities, created by a hapless explorer; a map so valuable that a kaleidoscope of alien forms – amongst them a Sovereign agent – will cross every Phaslair to get their hands on it, racing one another to the Well. Solaris ha anunciado la publicación de The Salt Oracle, la segunda y última entrega de We Are All Ghosts in the Forest, de Lorraine Wilson.

It’s been seventeen years since the internet crashed and left the world broken…

On the Bellwether, a huge floating college safe from the politics and war of the mainland, Auli is part of a research team studying the Oracle – a strange, uncanny girl who channels dangerous ghosts. The scientists notate everything she says, using her to piece together maps, weather forecasts, and anything else that might make the region’s hazardous waters a little safer for shipping cartels and local fishermen alike.

Auli is horrified when her beloved mentor, Boudain, reveals his scheme to create more human Oracles, seeking to leverage the power of this unique girl into security for the Bellwether and perhaps even a return to a new, warped digital age. The very next day, she finds him dead.

Reluctantly promoted to lead her team, Auli begins an investigation into Boudain’s death. Her scrutiny reveals the corrupt heart of the institute she has dedicated herself to, and as the ghosts and even the very seas around them start to mutate, she is forced to wrestle with a life-changing decision: save the Oracle or save the Bellwether – and all the lives that depend on it.
