Anunciada la adquisición de Between Dragons and their Wrath

Orbit ha anunciado la adquisición de Between Dragons and their Wrath, una nueva fantasía épica de la australiana Devin Madson. Se trata del primer libro de una trilogía que llevará por nombre The Shattered Kingdom. El libro se publicará el año que viene.

Esta es la sinopsis:

Conquest long ago split the old kingdom of Paicha into city states, but there are those who seek to reunite the shattered realm—by force if necessary. Amidst the turmoil, three will find their destinies inextricably tangled.

 Tesha, a glassblower’s apprentice, becomes a false tribute bride as part of a desperate political plot. In the enemy’s court, she’s perfectly placed to sabotage them, but her heart has other plans.

 Naili is laundress to an eccentric alchemist, a job that has left her with strange new powers and a price on her head. When she joins the city’s underworld, she’ll have to choose between keeping her magic secret and changing the world.

 And in the desolate Shield Mountains, sharp-shooting dragon rider Ashadi protects the cities from the monsters of the Iipao Sands beyond, but when an impossible shot pierces his dragon’s glass scales, he becomes the hunted one.

 As war sweeps across the land, Tesha, Naili, and Ashadi must survive political enemies, long-buried secrets, and monsters both within and without.

La conquista dividió hace tiempo el viejo reino de Paicha en ciudades-estado, pero hay quien busca reunirlo de nuevo, por la fuerza si es necesario. Entre el barullo, tres personas encontrarán sus destinos inexorablemente entrelazados.

Tesha, una aprendiz sopladora de vidrio, será una falsa novia de tributo en una maniobra política desesperada. En la corte del enemigo, estará en el lugar perfecto para llevar a cabo un sabotaje, aunque su corazón tiene pensada otra cosa.

Naili es la lavandera de un alquimista excéntrico, un trabajo que le ha otorgado extraños poderes y ha puesto precio a su cabeza. Cuando se une al submundo urbano, deberá escoger entre mantener su magia en secreto o cambiar el mundo.

Y en las desoladas Montañas Escudo, el caballero del dragón francotirador Ashadi protege las ciudades de los monstruos de más allá de la Arena, pero cuando un tiro imposible atraviesa las escamas de su dragón, el mismo se convertirá en presa.

Conforme la guerra avanza por el territorio, Tesha, Naili y Ashadi deberán sobrevivir a sus enemigos políticos, a secretos largo tiempo ocultos y a monstruos externos e internos.

Gollancz publicará una nueva trilogía de Joe Abercrombie

Todavía no nos hemos recuperado de las emociones de The Age of Madness, cuando ya se anuncia la nueva trilogía de Joe Abercrombie, cuyo primer volumen se titulará The Devils, aunque todavía no hay fechas de publicación.

In a magic-riddled Europe under constant threat of elf invasion, the 10-year-old Pope occasionally needs services that cannot be performed by the righteous. Anunciado Better Worlds

Gracias a Peter Tieryas he sabido de la creación del proyecto Better Worlds, una colaboración de diversos autores de género para dar lugar a diez relatos cortos, cinco adaptaciones animadas y cinco audiorelatos con un marcado carácter optimista.

La publicación comenzará el 14 de enero del año que viene, y según la editora Laura Hudson está parcialmente inspirada en Hyerogliph: Stories and Visions for a Better Future y Octavia’s Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements,  dos recopilaciones que también buscaban inspirar un futuro mejor.

Da gusto despertarse con buenas noticias como esta. Subterranean Press publicará The Tea Master and the Detective,  una nueva novella situada en el Universo de Xuya, que se publicará en marzo de 2018.

La propia autora la define como:

It’s, Xuya meets Sherlock Holmes, if Holmes were an eccentric scholar & Watson a grumpy decommissioned war mindship

Pero es que si leemos lo que se publica sobre la trama, los niveles de hype suben como la espuma.
