Esta confluencia feliz entre la exploraci\u00f3n verbal del poeta y la necesidad narrativa del relatista no siempre se encuentra en equilibrio en la obra de Valente: la estadounidense suele decantar la balanza por el acento po\u00e9tico. Este sesgo a veces no tiene buena acogida en una comunidad (mal) acostumbrada a que la prosa sea la sustancia blanda e inerte que rodea a las ideas. Valente se adelant\u00f3 con mucho al boom del crowdfunding<\/em> con esta singular iniciativa de financiaci\u00f3n, impulsada antes por la carest\u00eda econ\u00f3mica que por una delicada propuesta para conectar con sus lectores. Los subscriptores de Omikuji<\/em> recib\u00edan cada mes un texto in\u00e9dito de Valente (un poema, un relato, un fragmento de novela), impreso en papel de calidad y firmado por la autora. Quiz\u00e1 inspirada por el \u00e9xito de ese proyecto (que sigui\u00f3 funcionando hasta 2013), la escritora se anim\u00f3 a lanzar en 2009 una campa\u00f1a con la que financiar\u00a0The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland In a Ship of Her Own Making<\/em><\/a>. Silently & Very Fast<\/em><\/a> es una novela corta fascinante pero quiz\u00e1 demasiado compleja como primera lectura. A quienes prefieran novela les propondr\u00eda primero Palimpsest<\/em> o Deathless<\/em><\/a> si son adultos \u2014aunque Deathless<\/em> tiene cierto tinte juvenil.
