Adaptación de Cuevas de acero

Fox ha contratado a Akiva Goldsman para adaptar el libro The caves of steel de Isaac Asimov a la gran pantalla.

El proyecto comenzó el año 2011 con Henry Hobson como director. Ha pasado ya por varios escritores, así que no sabemos en qué acabará todo. ¿Quién os gustaría que interpretara a Elijah Baley? ¿Y a R. Daneel Olivaw?

A principios de 2017 Subterranean Press publicará Miniatures: The very short fiction of John Scalzi, una recopilación de la mejor ficción corta (muy corta) de John Scalzi.

Portada de Walkaway

Aquí os traigo la portada de la nueva novela adulta de Cory Doctorow, Walkaway.

La sinopsis:

Hubert, Seth, and their ultra-rich heiress friend Natalie are getting a little old to hang out at the “Communist parties,” techno-raveups in abandoned industrial spaces, full of insta-printed drugs and toys. And Natalie was finished, years ago, with her overcontrolling zillionaire dad.

Un futuro sin nubes

futurosinnubesMi amigo Elías me ha recordado que en los últimos tengo muy olvidados los cómics y sus reseñas, algo evidentemente cierto, pero que no sé si podré arreglar porque no estoy leyendo mucho. No obstante, ha caído en mis manos Un futuro sin nubes y aunque solo sea por un día, vuelven las reseñas de tebeos a Fantástica Ficción.

La obra de los dibujantes Ralph Meyer y Bruzo Gazzoti con guión de Fabien Vehlmann es un buen ejemplo de que el tebeo es un medio perfecto para la ciencia ficción, tanto por su componente visual como por su concreción. En sus páginas conoceremos a Nolan Ska, un ingeniero de un futuro controlado por una sola multinacional, propiedad de F.G. Wilson. Ska decide viajar al pasado para impedir que Wilson se haga con el control mundial ayudando al futuro millonario a cumplir su verdadera vocación : ser escritor de ciencia ficción.

Partiendo de esta base os podéis imaginar al menos parte de las características de la obra. Muchos, muchísimos de los tropos habituales de la ciencia ficción, tanto en la historia “real” como en los guiones que Ska crea para Wilson. Y también cierta dosis de ironía, humor y por qué no decirlo, mala baba.

La lectura avanza paralelamente entre estos relatos imaginados y la relación entre ambos personajes, con un ritmo que no decae en ningún momento y que nos tiene entretenidos hasta el final. Uno de los problemas de Un futuro sin nubes precisamente es que los homenajes a otras obras son continuos y se echa en falta algo de originalidad en las historias, ya que todas son reminiscentes de otras que conocemos.

En el aspecto gráfico, el trabajo entre ambos autores está dividido hoja a hoja pero consiguiendo una mimetización de estilos que hace que no sea fácil discernir las diferencias. Herederos del Spirit del maestro Eisner, el dibujo se adapta perfectamente al relato y sin excesivas florituras pero con un oficio innegable consigue un resultado final muy agradable.

Una historia que no es excesivamente original pero que cumple perfectamente su función.
